In 1881, Jules-Eugène Lagrange, a medical doctor from Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, built a villa in the heart of this immense wooded park, which he named Villa Mauresque, to live in with his wife.
The creation of the Corniche road cut through the immense park that encircled the villas, and the beautiful original minaret unfortunately disappeared over time. Pierre Chapoulart built other villas in the Moorish style, such as the famous Villa d'Hyères, a Villa in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and one in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
A private mansion turned luxury hotel on the Côte d'Azur, it has since been restored to its former glory, while retaining its original character... Its location and historical importance make it one of the few listed properties on the Côte d'Azur, opening its doors to a privileged few in search of tranquility, comfort and luxury.
Today, the villa has become a luxury hotel, retaining the Moorish inspiration of the period.
The Villa Mauresque offers large suites suitable for families or romantic couples, such as the Suite Rimbaud, whose luxury bathroom with sea-view bathtub is breathtaking. The hotel also offers spacious rooms and outdoor Jacuzzis with sea views.
More than just a luxury hotel, La Villa Mauresque is also a must-visit venue on the Côte d'Azur. Its gourmet restaurant offers a luxurious, uncluttered setting for both business meetings and summer evenings with friends.
The gourmet restaurant, Le Bougainvillier, features Mediterranean cuisine.
Open to the public in addition to hotel guests, it is nonetheless an essential part of life in Saint-Raphaël.
